LIFE | UNCOVERED photo shoot Part 1

Moving. Work. Watching Fish. UNCOVERED. Or should that be more prioritized as UNCOVERED. Work. Moving. Watching fish. ? The last month  and a half I have been scrambling to find models, locations, and backers for my project UNCOVERED. Tuesday stylists The Originative finished their shoot on the book entitled Divergent. I showed up right as they were getting their first model out in front of the camera, and literally my heart skipped a beat. This is happening, flashes through my mind. I feel the energy in the room. Paul and Paulina are exuding enthusiasm. It is the coolest thing to witness someone completely in love with fashion. Not a snob that thinks they know it all. But someone who is genuinely thrilled about clothes taking form on someone's body. Its infectious.

This is not a routine for them. This is a new endeavor, only every day. Words cannot express how elated I was to see them in their element. They went beyond my expectations and I am super excited to see what they intend to reveal at the show in November!

BEHIND THE DESK | Jade and Camel

I must admit, I have been bumming it at work...the tomboy in me totally won over my girl side. It didn't help that I was assisting in a play and had to wear black to all rehearsals and shows, so creativity took a back seat for realz. But I am back. And you're welcome.

LIFE | God.is.good.

I was able to raise the support to get the first part of this fashion show off the ground, so now I can begin shooting!! So incrediblely blessed! Once this part of the project for marketing, I am hoping this will entice local businesses to sponsor the event in November. More updates to follow!

LIFE | Moving

3 weeks and counting.

Its all bitter sweet. It will be the first time that my sister and I will be living in the same city, but not under the same roof. Out of the 28 years that I have known her, only 6 of those years involved us living separate.  That's cray. Real cray.

A week ago I asked around and within 2 hrs I had 4 responses. Today, I got the keys. God is good.

There's no closet, so there will be some downsizing. I bought 24 hangers, and had to choose which clothes would make it to my new makeshift closet. Everything will be donated.

My new room will have plenty of sunlight and plenty of wall space, so it's time to invest in a full length mirror for better OOTD pictures!

STYLE CRUSH | Zoe Saldana

My first celebrity style crush. Normally, I try to search for the unknown and known blogsters of the fashion realm, but come on--its Zoe Saldana. On the red, her evening wear is almost always sporting a plummeting necklines, exposed shoulders, geometric cut outs, or a mini to show off her ballerina legs that go on "fuh days".

Off the carpet, and into the streets of every day wear and small social events, her simplicity in color and pattern palette is makes her the most striking in my opinion. There is the straight forward approach about her style, that says "I like comfort, but I don't have to be a slob about it." She airs on the side of blacks and greys and plays casually with her accessories. Not a lot of fuss. Zoe. Live long and prosper.

ACCESSORIES | Tigress Necklace

Another beaut from Italy's Zara: This wonderful neck piece. My sister was on the hunt to find me Kenzo head gear (hey she found a real Prada bag at an Italian church rummage sale) the Kenzo motif is an open mouthed tiger. This was no Kenzo, but she knew I would wear this...A LOT! And they go nicely with the tribal print leggings she got for me too!

    LIFE | Birthday Outfit Ideas

One of my favorite childhood movies is HOOK, the continuing story of Peter Pan. Tomorrow I will be 29. I am excited and scared at the same time because I feel like I have been in my twenties forever, so this being my last year before I can no longer say "I'm twenty___" really zoomed me into the realization that I am getting older. That time is continually chasing after me. It is sobering. Saturday, I am having a HOOK inspired birthday party. Adult attire, but child inspired. Friends will dress up as either a lost boy, indian or a pirate. I was torn between being Peter Pan or Wendy. I am going shopping with my friend Chelsea, so I am looking for some inspiration.

    RUNWAY | Stephane Rolland

I am obsessed with the linear and how it traces our female figure. It says strength. Even better when it says strength and grace. Bravo Stephane Rolland on this collection. Stunning.

FASHION FRIDAYS | Then and Now

My my! I can't believe I went almost a whole week with no posts! My apologies, work is kicking my badonka. Plus I have been preoccupied with creating this lookbook for you lovelies, and trying to get inspiration for my 29th birthday [insert appropriate emoji face here].  I know I can't believe it either. But all the buzz about how to celebrate it got me all nostalgic and I started looking at pictures of me from almost 14 years ago (even that sounds weird). I was a TOM-BOY for sure. No mistake indeed (which explains a lot about me not getting all the boys in the yard back then--not much has changed but at least I had an excuse then!) I thought I would show you one of the few pictures I have of myself from high school (I think I only have about 10). I was 15 in this picture, toward the end of 9th grade and I was (still am) a Lady Vols fan. My wardrobe of choice most days consisted of trackies, sports tee, addidas kicks and my collection of bucket hats. Trimmings usually involved hemp bracelets and shell necklaces (I lived anywhere from 5-25 minutes away from any beach so that was normal jewelry wear). I mostly wore it for comfort and for the fact that my 165 lbs of muscle couldn't fit into most girly clothes without looking like I was trying too hard. Anyway, enjoy this morsel of my past and thank the Lord that this phase passed....eventually :)
