P R I N T

if you want to keep a classic look from being too straight up, a bold pattern or print can make a huge impact. start with a print that is small in scale. choose one that either has tonal colors or very few colors. --amanda brooks, i love your style p57

as i have been packing up my stuff, i realized how color did not exist. denim, black, grey, and army green have been my staples since last june. not that i am scared of color, i have just been trying to figure out what color looks like for me now that o think i have a better handle on my style.

in the meantime, i decided to ease into patterns. i spotted this jumper a month ago, but the line to this particular forever21 was excrutiatingly long just to try it on, so i put it back and tried to see if i could find it elsewhere. as you can see, i did, and was thoroughly happy that it fit.

O U T F I T

spent christmas in pensacola with the folks. a lot has changed and so much has stayed the same. i spent most of the holidays at a new coffee shop, the bodacious brew, or photo sniping places of my youth or old ruins on the beach. funny how much i wanted to get away from this place, but its dullness of activity is something i think quite fondly of now.

finally snagged these photos of me from the sister. we went exploring on well known spots in pensacola including graffiti bridge and bay view park.

THE TOMGIRL SERIES | Polished Pioneer

This Thanksgiving I got to fulfill one of my childhood Frazier induced dreams of visiting Seattle. I honestly had no idea what to expect. I did no research on the place, took no one's word for it and pioneered through the Oregon trail (not really but I did take a train from Portland to Seattle and I am happy to report no wagon wheels were harmed during the process of this adventure).  I was brilliantly surprised. It solidified in my mind that I was born for colder weather. All those layers. Makes a girl like me swoon.

GIVEAWAY | F21 French Terry Pullover CLOSED

Sweatshirts aren't just for trapping heat and tons of perspiration while lifting iron, but can be a cute staple for the everyday tomgirl. For me its difficult to find one that isn't super over-sized so I was happy to find F21 selling these in 4 lightweight colors. Winner chooses their color and size. Question: If you could pick one season to have year round, which season would you choose?

GIVEAWAY | Forever21 Ring CLOSED

Storybook Fox Ring

I loved the move "Fantastic Mr. Fox". I love foxes in general. I rooted for the fox in the Gingerbread Man story. Tasty little ginger. Fox and the Hound. Foxtrot. Foxy Ryan Gosling...focus. Anyway, I love this little woodland creature. Question of the day:

If you could feel sorry for any villainous character from a childhood story, who would it be and why? *Best answer wins this one.

GIVEAWAY | F21 Love CLOSED

Eiffel Tower Charm Necklace

Traveling across the Atlantic has got me gravitating to pieces that satiate my nomadic soul. Here's a cute and simple jewelry piece from Forever21 to add to your overall look. Question for the day:

You have been given the opportunity to travel and see your dream destination with two weeks vacation time. Your choices for transportation are by airplane or by boat. If you take an airplane, you will have two weeks to explore ONLY your dream destination. If you take a boat, you will stop at different ports along the way for 13 out of the 14 days, but you will only have one day to explore your dream destination spot. Which one do you take?

OOTD | The Librarian

I have officially started wearing my fall colors. Browns, tans, and nudes. The rain today brought a nice chill this evening, which was nice as a wool skirt does not do well in a summer heat. Today was my day at the library for my internship. I got the compliment on my choice in colors as well as just the outfit in general. Mostly from homeless people (that might be saying something--haha). One said enthusiastically, "Those are fantastic colors!" and another one said "Fancy shoes!" The most awkward one was, "Do you by chance work with Michelle Obama because you have a shape just like hers!" (side eye). Anyway, this look was definitely more girl and less tom, but guns are still very tom. *Le sigh* they are not very delicate looking, hence why I feel the need to dress up more often than not. I look less like a boy.

OOTD | LUNCH with J.O.

Went to Thai House for lunch with J.O. Wasn't sure what kind of atmosphere it was so I went for semi-casual with this open back romper from Forever21. I am glad I dressed up a little bit, because J.O. was looking quite dapper as well.
