S C H U H E

went dress shoe shopping, once upon a time.

came to a sad conclusion that i can no longer sport my nine west favs which have always been a comfort to my soles. they were my first pair of heels and my bodacious calves thank them. now, i find more heels to be uncomfortable due to last years basketball injury, so boots, sneakers, and anything else that is flat takes precedence. but now i have a new job. they want me to get all dressed up and such, and said shoes will not do anymore. but i hast to has 'em.

enter steve madden

i must say that i never cared for steve madden style of shoe, but in recent years i have been impressed with the face lift and he has done me a favor in  combining what i love and what i have to wear into a comfortable compromise. i think i just found my "the one".

TENNIS SHOE | Baby Phat

Baby Phat tennis shoes on sale $12.99. My first purchase for September in my $50 Challenge

I do not normally even give a side eye to Baby Phat merch. So many sparkles of bejeweled and bedazzled, my eyes should flock to it like a moth to a porch light. Instead, I try to keep myself from gagging. But I stumbled across the most tame of all the Cats of Phat. So simple, that feline logo did not even phase me. Neither did the price. Mostly because it was on sale for less than $15. The insides are plaid. The soles are a purple felt-like material. I love the caramel brown leather accents on the outside with the grey canvas. I need something casual and street wearable. A tomgirl does not have to sacrifice style for comfort or vice versa. This is both in harmony.

INSPIRATION | Dressed up Dressed down

I just got some tennis shoes. Not running shoes, but normal every day street wear (I will post a pic tomorrow). I want to still look classy, but not done up. I am really loving the monochromatic look in neutral tones, but maybe a bit more fitted like Olivia is pulling off with her leather high tops. Don't really care for her personality, but her style IS impeccable.

PENNY LOAFERS

Penny Loafers- Bass

I grew up loving oxfords and loafers. I knew from an early age I was born in the wrong era. There was a stint in my life where I wanted to look like everyone else and so I buried my mature sense of style to blend in. I was still different and was always made aware of it.

I have now come to my senses.

I have been craving loafers for almost seven years now, but could not find ones that were that hard leather and in a size for women. My craving has been satisfied by Bass. I never splurge on clothes or shoes. And even though these are originally priced at a 1/4 of my paycheck, Labor Day sales allowed for me to maintain a non-splurge purchase.

I still have to find some more close toed shoes for my internship...but then I also need some for the upcoming GENT event my boy J.O. is putting on (more on that later) and I want those to be saucy.

But I digress.

I am definitely wanting to do a whole collegiate prep style with these shoes, but I want to think beyond Ralph Lauren Polo. These are my style-spirations.
